1. The Dark Knight (2008)
This is the second movie in the Batman series. It was a smashing success, earning a staggering $158.4 million in the United States in its first weekend. It went past the $300 million mark in just 10 days and the half a billion barrier in just 43 days. It went on to gross more than $1 billion making it the 19th highest grossing film of all time (unadjusted for inflation).
Although Bale earned a lot of rave reviews for his portrayal as Batman, his co-star Heath Ledger’s acting chops were also noticed. Ledger played Joker, Batman’s arch-nemesis. However Ledger died in early 2008 just after finishing the production of the film.
2. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Bale is directed in this movie by Christopher Nolan, the same guy who was in charge of the Batman trilogy. The story is about two rival stage magicians in London during the end of the 19th century who engaged each other in a competitive one-upmanship. The film also stars Michael Caine, who like Bale appears in the Batman trilogy as Batman’s butler Alfred. It was well-received by critics and moviegoers, earning $100 million worldwide.
4. Batman Begins (2005)
Batman Begins is the first movie in the Batman trilogy of Christopher Nolan, starring Bale as the Caped Crusader. This film explores the origins of Batman, and his exploits against the Scarecrow and the League of Shadows. It was a huge hit, earning $374 million worldwide.
