History of Cineworld

In July 1996, the first Cineworld was inaugurated in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The same year saw the opening of another cinema in Wakefield, Yorkshire. In November 1998, the Shrewsbury, Shropshire location was opened to the public. Subsequent theatres became operational throughout the 90s and early 2000s. In 2005, Cineworld took over the operations of UGC, a French cinema company, in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The Blackstone Group, after becoming a private ownership, merged into the Cineworld and poured in a substantial investment in 2004. It became the biggest shareholder of the Cineworld Group PLC until it decided to sell its remaining 20 percent shares in November 2010.

Being part of a merger, the cinema continues to open new sites. By 2015, it already maintains around 82 cinema locations within the Great Britain, Jersey, and Ireland. It has plans to open more cinemas in many other locations within and outside the UK.

Cineworld Innovations

Cineworld is proud of its cinemas, each of which has between 1 and 20 screens. Apart from showing the latest popular films, it also features opera shows, theatre acts, concerts, and sports. Part of its renovations is the replacement of its own CafeBars with a number of Starbucks coffee shops.

By September 2013, a number of its cinemas already have highly-advanced IMAX viewing screens, with a majority of them featuring the impressive D-BOX technology. Many new sites signed contracts that included the installation and operation of both the IMAX and D-BOX. Installation of the IMAX screens are also being done at some of the older sites.

Simultaneous with a refit done recently, the Milton Keynes cinema acquired the “Superscreen” and 4DX screen, known to be the first cinema to do so in the United Kingdom. Cineworld plans to install the “Superscreen” and the 4DX screens to more locations in the near future.

As part of its continuous innovations, the chain offers a new premium cinema feature, known as The Screening Rooms, in June 2011. Located just adjacent to the Cheltenham cinema, its Screening Rooms has become a major attraction to a good number of movie goers primarily because it offers much more spacious seats covered in fine leather, as well as premium quality food and drinks and even convenient table service.

Cineworld Cinema adheres to the strict policy on admissions and R-Rated Films. All guests aged 17 and below must be accompanied by an adult who is 21 years old or above in order to buy a ticket. Likewise, it is a must that his adult companion watches the movie with him. Any guest who is 17 years old or below must be able to present a valid ID to be allowed entry into the movie theatre.

How Much Do Cineworld Tickets Cost?

The ticket prices at Cineworld are reasonable. They are even more affordable than that of many other major theatre chains in the UK. Since the chain offers a number of movie formats to the public, like the standard screen, IMAX, and 3d, this ensures that the ticket prices will not increase. It has set these viewing options in various prices to allow a guest to choose the one that fits his budget.

Cineworld theatre prices are also considerably reduced with the discounts that the chain offers. For instance, if you avail of preferential discounts, you become an unlimited member. This gives you great access to many valuable discounts on various film and non-film screenings.

For specific prices of tickets in your region, it is best to check them online.  Go to the cinemas’ official website to find out the current movies that are being shown and their corresponding ticket prices. You can also buy and reserve your theatre seats via its online services.

Conclusion

People go to Cineworld over and over again because they want to relive the joy and excitement of experiencing the finest movie watching possible. From the purchase of the low ticket prices, down to the reservation of seat and taking advantage of its promos and offerings – Cineworld meets a guest’s cinema watching requirements.

Have the pleasure of watching the most vivid movies in whatever screen format that you choose. If only for its state-of-the-art screens and theatre facilities that the chain offers at low Cineworld prices, no other chain serves its customers better than Cineworld.

As soon as you are able to buy tickets and reserve the seats for you and your family, you can walk in to its local theatre, or one nearest your location – and indulge in a wonderful movie time. All this you can experience only at Cineworld Cinemas.

  1. Hello,

I would like to purchase three CineWorld ticket cards for my nephew/nieces – all under the age of 14 years – as a Christmas gift, for them to use as and when they find a film they would like to see.

I have been unable to find the right area to do this so would be very appreciative for your help in this matter please.

    Thank you.
