The Fate of the Furious

Fate of the Furious Poster

At this point in time – you either love the FF franchise or hate it. Or, of course, the series has been going on for so long now, you’ve simply become numb any new additions to the list. Whatever the case, they aren’t going away anytime soon. The Fate of the Furious is the 8th installment of the Fast and Furious movie franchise, and definitely not the last.

Want to know why they aren’t going away? We, along with many others, think the major reason behind their lack of finalizing the series is cold, hard cash. The previous seven films combined have scored an absolutely astronomical $3.2 billion in profit. And we expect it to increase once more following the release of FF8.

Don and Letty on their honeymoon, Brian and Mia retired from the game, and the rest of the crew pardoned from their crimes, what could go wrong? Dom – that’s what. Dom goes wrong. He gets seduced back into the criminal underworld through the lures of a wonderfully tempting woman. The crew gets back together in the usual form and takes on the baddies.

Filming of FF8 has taken place across multiple countries around the world. Iceland, Cuba, USA, and Germany are just a few of the unique locations the directors and producers have filmed their cast in. The filming in Iceland now claims to have shot the biggest explosion ever filmed in the country.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any ratings available online for the movie yet, but we expect some to start popping up extremely soon. The Fate of the Furious releases around the world on the 12th – 14th April in the majority of countries, with a few exceptions later on in the month.

Spark: A Space Trail

Spark A Space Trail Poster

Spark: A Space Trail has been sitting on the shelves in the movies for nearly a whole year now! It first premiered to a select few of the public’s eyes at the Toronto Animation Arts Festival International on the 22nd April 2016. On top of that, it’s only being released in two countries – the USA and the UK. No love for Australia or Canada, unfortunately.

The movie follows a teenage monkey (Spark) and his friends as they embark on a mission to take back Planet Bana, which is currently under the control of the evil General Zhong. The adventurous quest leads Spark and his companions across the universe, allowing him to discover the secret of his true identity.

3D animation technology has been solely used to produce this film – with no real life shots taking place. We here a few of the cast were banned from flying so they were forced to animate the film instead of using a real monkey and flying him around the universe.

As you’ll see in the cast list below, there are some big names hitting up the voices of the monkey crew. So if you’re looking for something entertaining for the kids, or wouldn’t mind seeing some monkey fly around the universe yourself, this one may be for you!

The Lost City of Z

The Lost City of Z Poster

The Sons of Anarchy and Green Street Hooligans legend Charlie Hunnam is back, this time he’s heading to a mysterious city in the Amazon. The Lost City of Z tells the incredible true story of the British explorer Percy Fawcett who undertook an adventure to the Amazon which would prove to be his last during the 1920s.

Amazon Studios together with Bleecker Street hold the rights of the film in the United States with its released set for 14th April 2017, following a number of successful screenings at film festivals. The New York Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, RiverRun International Film Festival, and more have all screened the film before it’s official release to the public.

Filming has taken place across a variety of locations. Most notably, Belfast, Ireland, and numerous other locations in Ireland have been used. The crew took a trip down to Colombia for the jungle shots where they spent some time filming in Rio Don Diego and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

It looks like an extremely intriguing and mysterious film. You better head to the toilet and stock up on drinks and popcorn beforehand, because it’s quite a lengthy film of 2 hours and 21 minutes.

Norman

Norman Poster

Long name – Norman: The Moderate Rise and Trafic Fall of a New York Fixer stars Richard Gere (Norman) and Lior Ashkenazi (Eshel). No wonder they’re using the far simpler Norman to market the film.

Follow Norman, the small time operator, as he befriends the young politician, Eshel, during a low point in his life. The near future brings luck to Eshel allowing him to become the Prime Minister of Israel.  Norman’s life is set to change drastically for the better and worse.

The movie first premiered to a small group of lucky viewers at the Telluride Film Festival in September 2016. It’s further gone on to also be featured at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Cleveland International Film Festival early in 2017. Israel was the first country the complete movie was released to the big screens, on March 9th, 2017. The USA are receiving it just over a month later on April 14th, 2017.

As you’ve probably guessed, the movie’s been filmed in two locations – Israel and the USA. The first shots were planned to be taken on January 12th, 2015 but ended up being delayed until February that year.

Both The Guardian and Variety have praised Richard Gere for his performance in the film. With the former going so far as stating the following:

It’s one of his strongest performances in recent years and as a character study the film works well.
