Plot

Based on a true story, Detroit tells the tale of an incident which occurred during an extremely unruly time in Detroit’s history – the 1967 race riots (one of the biggest in US history).

However, it’s not centered around the riots themselves, but rather an off-the-street altercation. The movie focuses on a raid conducted at the Algiers Motel in which three black men were killed, and another nine men and women brutally beaten.

Midnight Sun

Plot

Eerily similar to the movie released not too long ago, Everything, Everything. Midnight Sun follows the exact same story line of which a girl is under house arrest, not by the police, but rather by the sun.

A disease so rare, we can only imagine it as a superpower in an alternate universe – even the smallest amount of pure sunlight can be profoundly deadly to her life. All that changes, however, when she meets Charlie, and they embark on a summer romance…in the sun.

Plot

No, it’s not a prequel to the Step Up movies, although we don’t blame you if you thought it was. The title and plot is extremely similar.

Step follows a young group of girls at their inner-city Baltimore high school, documenting their senior year as they participate in one of the most popular extra-curricular activities for girls their age – dancing.

Plot

Fan of murder mysteries? You’re going to absolutely love this one. If you can, get a ticket for a time when the theaters are least popular – the soundtrack is going to be epic. And you don’t want crinkling chip bags conflicting with the cinema sound.

Wind River tells the story of a lonesome FBI agent partnering with the town’s local expert game tracker in order to solve the mystery of a recent murder on the Native American reservation.

Jeremy Renner is cast as one of the lead characters. And you know when he’s in a thriller movie, it’s definitely going to be a good one.
